Independance Stadium

After eating breakfast we walked to Independence Stadium as Paul wanted to take some measurements of the track. We crossed over the main Kariba Avenue road and walked along the sandy back streets cutting off a good bit of the corner, finally arriving outside the stadium where some locals were playing football. We approached the two guards on duty explaining what we wanted to do, after a quick phone call and the offer of atiya tea we were taken into the stadium grounds. Paul started to measure the width of the track with me holding onto one end. Then we measured the length with Bradley helping running on a head with the tape measure until it was tight. Finally Paul had all the measurements he needed so we headed back for lunch of chicken chasseur and jam roly poly.

After lunch Abigail finished her English homework then we decided to have a stroll to the beach. We found a sun bed and had a dip in the sea which was much cooler than usual. Then Paul carried Abigail on his shoulders jumping over the waves into much deeper water which she was not happy about finally let go she waded back to the waters edge. Paul then went for a swim meeting Danny who was surfing further along the beach whilst I managed to get a little bit of sun which was much cooler than usual. At 5.00pm we headed back to shower and quickly gave Abigail and Bradley a sandwich before heading for La Parisienne. Paul phoned Dale wishing him a Happy Birthday, then Abigail and Bradley had a quick word before tucking into an Ice-cream. After I had phoned mum I left to put Abigail and Bradley to bed whilst Paul phoned Jenny and finished off some of his emails.
