HI Denise & Family, Saw your blog address in the herald & post and thought we would get in touch. have read all your postings, things look great out there and it sounds like your making lots of new friends. how are you finding the culture change, probably not as many shops and services as your use to back home, but hey all that nice warm weather. Sounds like the kids are starting to make new friends, helping them settle in which will help you too. The photos of the pool area look great, just like ours.........not.Although the patio was flooded with rain yesterday. How are your plans for xmas, is it celebrated the same as we do? I guess Julie & Alan keep in touch with all the news from this end, so your not out of contact with home. Is there a time difference in Gambia? We look forward to hearing from you with your news. Jayne & Steve Frankland xxx
Hi Steven, Glad to hear you and Jayne are enjoying the blogs and photos. We are now settled into the daily life very different to back home although we did choose to live in a urban area so as to get Abi and Bradley into better schooling. Brikama were Paul travels to work is much more rural and only 40 minutes away. We are seeing lot's of wildlife so it is keeping the kid's interested. We are looking to celebrate xmas with the other volunteer's which are not going home and may look to visit another couple right up country at Basse or go to a national park in Senegal to see some elephants etc not quite decided yet. Keep viewing love Denise & Family
This is my attempt at a blog diary of our two year stay in The Gambia with my partner Paul and children Abigail and Bradley. Paul will be based in Brikama College as a volunteer for VSO, training the teachers of the future in Maths. We hope to be living within the Kombos region so we have easy access to schooling for our two children, once this is acheived I also hope to do some voluntary work within the region. Please note that the views and opinions in the blog are mine and don't necessarily reflect those of VSO, also apologies for any grammer or spelling mistakes.
